Another Christmas Is Almost upon us and that only means one thing. The IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships already to begin in the not very distant future.

On Friday afternoon all ten participating countries finalized their rosters meaning the only thing left to do is drop the puck on boxing day when the games in the tournament officially begins.

This year the tournament will be hosted in the City of Buffalo New York with the home side Americans looking to win back-to-back gold medals after waiting gold over the host Canadiens last year.

This tournament has recently morphed into more than just a to Country battle as it has truly become a global with at least a half a dozen countries possessing the ability to capture gold for their Nation. Although the Canadiens are Far and Away the most accomplished country in the tournament with a record 16 gold medals, the Russians, Americans, Swedes and Fins are all formidable opponents and have been breeding top caliber NHL players now for years.

Let's take a look at some of the aforementioned countries and their respective odds to capture gold this year in Buffalo as per the most recent betting lines and futures market at Bet365 Canada

    Team Canada

The most accomplished country in the tournament comes in as this year's favorites to capture an astonishing 17th gold medal. The Canadians are bringing back seven players from last year and are the heavy favourites to win the tournament.

Though Canada are lacking the likes of Connor McDavid, Pierre Luc-dubious, and Max Domi up front, it's obvious that the identity of this years team will be considerably different from years passed. This year's strength comes from the back end as the Canadian defense core is the best in the field. With five of the six starting defensemen being first round NHL selections it's obvious the talent on the blue line is bountiful. All are great skaters and puck movers and will be key to Canada's chances at gold.
