Why are the Celtics the Favourites?
After failing to capture the NBA Championship last season, the Boston Celtics regrouped, revamped, and revitalized their roster and are looking like one of the best teams in basketball.
Loaded with talent at every position, the Celtics are built to adapt to any game plan or strategy thrown against them on either side of the court. The Celtics made great moves in the offseason, none bigger than adding former-Pacers guard, Malcolm Brogdon. Bringing some much needed three-point shooting and fundamental playmaking, Brogdon has plugged the lone leak on a stacked squad.
One of the leaders in the Easteren Conference, look for the Celtics to continue to decimate opponents throughout the year, clinching themselves a great seed for the start of the playoffs. With an easier pathway to Celtics road to the Finals could be incredibly favourable.
With defensive anchor, Robert Williams III still on the mend, the Celtics are only slated to get better upon his return to the team.
The Celtics might just be the team to beat in the NBA and at +360, they are incredibly profitable as title favourites.
Are the Raptors Legitimate Title Contenders?
Expectations were high coming into the 2022-23 NBA season but it appears that the NBA title hopes and dreams of Raptors faithful will stay just that, a dream.
With uninspired play, an uneven rotation, and the failed experiment of an all 6′7-6′9 roster has culminated in the perfect recipe for disaster. While the Raptors have played decently at times, a mixture of poor performances, lack of synergy, and injury woes have kept the Raptors down and out.
Hoping to bounce back in the second half of the season, the Raptors are going to need to find their footing fast if they have any hopes of contending for the NBA Championship this season. The Raps have shown glimpses of phenomenal potential, but haven’t been able to fire on all cylinders at the same time this season.
As of right now, the Raptors championship odds shouldn’t be touched with a 50-foot pole. Until they can demonstrate cohesion and consistency, they will remain a mediocre squad that will have a tough time making any noise in the NBA Playoffs, if they are able to crack the top-eight in the Eastern Conference.
Under the Radar Pick: Cleveland Cavaliers
After swinging for the fences this offseason, the Cleveland Cavaliers went for broke as they acquired All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz. While many questioned Mitchells fit on the Jazz initially, all previous worries have been shut down.
The Cavs have been one of the top teams in the East this season, with the continued stellar play of Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley, coupled with the addition on Mitchell, the Cavaliers have dominated the competition this season.
With their mixture of an up-tempo offence and hard-nosed defence, the high-flying Cavaliers are a legitimate title threat this season. With a deep lineup, the Cavaliers have several reliable players to draw from that can shake up the outcome of any game.
At +2000, the Cavaliers hold fantastic value as an NBA Championship Futures pick. If they continue to develop chemistry and rack up wins, they could once again find themselves back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2018.
