Jevon Holland (Miami Dolphins)

Coming off of a terrific 2022 campaign with the Miami Dolphins, the pride of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Jevon Holland is set to establish himself as one of the top safeties in the NFL this season.

With terrific speed and athleticism to go along with superb tackling skills, Holland is a fantastic last line of defence on the Fins defence. After hauling in two interceptions and a forced fumble to go along with 96 combined tackles, Holland was a pivotal member of a strong defensive unit.

While he currently sits as a long shot coming into Week 1 of the 2023 season, you can back Jevon Holland to win Defensive Player of the Year at a juicy +15000 odds. That means a $10 wager on him to take home the top defensive honour in football would net you a massive payout of $1,510 (including your original $10 stake).

Back Holland to continue carving out his place as a premier safety in the NFL this season and sprinkle some funds on his DPOY odds as we enter Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.

John Metchie (Houston Texans)

Hoping to help the Houston Texans speed up their current rebuild, look for wide receiver John Metchie III to make an immediate impact in his rookie campaign.

Originally born in Taiwan, Metchie and his family moved to Brampton, Ontario, when he was only a year-old, spending the vast majority of his life in Canada. One of the top wideout prospects in the NFL, Metchie may be set for a remarkable debut season.

After missing the 2022 season after tearing his ACL in 2021, Metchie is motivated and ready to prove he is still an elite talent at his position. Currently sitting as a massive longshot to take home Offensive Player of the Year honours, you can grab Metchie at +20000 to break out for an award-winning season in 2023.

Look for Metchie to kickoff his NFL career with a bang, making an impact on his teams success right away, establishing himself as a dangerous threat at wide receiver for years to come as he reps the Red and White.

Other Notable Canadians to Watch in 2023

Chase Brown (Cincinnati Bengals)

Set to be a featured piece in the high-octane offence of the Cincinnati Bengals, rookie Chase Brown is a highlight reel waiting to happen. After rushing for 1,643 yards and 10 touchdowns in his last season with the Fighting Illini, the London, Ontario native is set to make his presence felt in his rookie season.

Selected 163rd overall in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Brown is set to serve as a prominent backup to established starter Joe Mixon in the Bengals backfield. A tremendous pass-catcher, look for Brown to get plenty of work on third-and-long sets, quickly rising up the ranks within the Bengals organization.

While he currently doesn’t have any odds listed for the 2023 NFL season, look for Brown to quickly find his footing with the Bengals, inserting himself into the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation in no time.

Sydney Brown (Philadelphia Eagles)

Twin brother of Chase, Sydney Brown is also poised for a huge rookie season with the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Bringing a hard-hitting style to the safety position, Brown is a perfect example of the modern-hybrid safety. With terrific speed and strength, Brown can fit into a multitude of defensive sets with ease. Thanks to his versatility, Brown could see an increasingly growing role on the stingy Eagles D.

While he doesn’t have any current odds listed, Brown is sure to turn heads early on into his NFL career. Look for him to quickly become listed in Defensive Rookie of the Year odds as he looks to build a name for himself at the highest-level.

Chase Claypool (Chicago Bears)

After making a name for himself early on into his NFL career, Chase Claypool is in desperate need of an impressive 2023 season. Claypool quickly became a top receiver on the Pittsburgh Steelers with back-to-back 800+ yard seasons.

Things would quickly spiral out of control as his off the field antics and outspoken demeanor would quickly turn things sour for him with the Steelers. After an unremarkable 2022 season spent with the Steelers and Chicago Bears, Claypool will need to prove he’s still got top-level play to offer in the NFL.

Keep an eye on Mapletron to cement his spot on the depth chart with the Bears, breathing new life into the Abbotsford, British Columbia products career, and potentially generating OPOY and comeback player of the year buzz in 2023.

Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers)

Having served a prominent role in the rebuilding Carolina Panthers depth chart, Edmonton, Alberta’s, Chuba Hubbard will look to rack up yards as he looks to turn heads this season.

Hubbard has tallied an impressive eight total touchdowns in two seasons with the Panthers, averaging a solid four yards per carry over 32 games played. While the Panthers are not projected to be world-beaters in the NFL this season look for Hubbard to be a driving force in their running game, continuing to grow in a backup role with his squad.

Benjamin St-Juste (Washington Commanders)

A lockdown cornerback that has made big plays against some of the top wide receivers in the NFL, look for the Montreal, Quebec export, Benjamin St-Juste to make his name known within the Washington Commanders secondary.

A hard-hitting corner, St-Juste recorded two sacks to go along with seven passes defended with the Commanders. While he still sits low in the depth chart of the Commanders, he could quickly find himself with an increased role if his development continues to increase in his third season as a pro.
