Why are the Chiefs the Super Bowl Favourites?

Finishing with the top spot in the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs look poised to make yet another deep run in the NFL Playoffs behind superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. After continuing to bludgeon teams with their high-octane air raid offence, the Chiefs have landed in a terrific position to compete in the Super Bowl for the third time in four seasons.

By clinching the top seed in their conference the Chiefs will receive a bye, skipping over the Wild Card round and making their 2022 playoff debut in the Divisional championships. With so many talented teams in this year’s race for the Lombardi Trophy, having this bye will be crucial as the field remains entirely wide open this postseason.

Sporting an incredibly deep roster bolstered by superstar talent including Travis Kelce and Chris Jones, the Chiefs have a tremendous coaching staff behind them as well, led by Head Coach Andy Reid. With a championship pedigree to go along with spectacular athletes, the Chiefs are rightfully the favourites to claim victory in Super Bowl LVII.

Back the Chiefs at +350 to go the distance, netting you a solid payday on this NFL futures bet.

Team to Fade: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Coming into this season, expectations remained high for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they looked to make another deep run toward the NFL Playoffs as Tom Brady searches for an unfathomable eighth Super Bowl win. Unfortunately for Buccaneer faithful, this does not look to be in the cards for them this season.

With TB12 appearing to in fact be human, Brady has begun to show signs of age, not finding receivers quickly enough and unable to move the ball deep downfield. Even with fantastic skill players such as Mike Evans and Chris Godwin still catching passes from Brady, their output has been diminished in comparison to last season.

Another major factor in the Bucs’ struggles this season have come from their injury-plagued roster, especially up front. The Buccaneers offensive line has been decimated due to injury, preventing Brady from having enough time to make a play while standing in the pocket, and creating little to no holes for running back Leonard Fournette to run through, leading to their league-worst run game.

Currently sitting with the eighth-best odds to win this year’s Super Bowl, the Buccaneers are a team all NFL bettors should avoid wagering on and should fade them to reach the promised land. The Bucs’s odds are inflated due to the fact they play in arguably the worst division in football, so they may walk themselves into a home-field playoff matchup come Wild Card weekend, but it could be the only playoff football they see.

Under the Radar Pick: New York Giants

One of the biggest surprises of the NFL season, the New York Giants have looked fantastic with a stellar 6-2 record through the first eight weeks of play. The Giants franchise is no stranger to Cinderella Super Bowl runs and this year we may see another one added to the history books.

This years Giants squad has looked completely rejuvenated, much of this can be accredited to new playcaller, Head Coach (and Canadian-born) Brian Daboll. Daboll has been embraced by Giants fans for his fiery attitude and ability to inspire his team. This has been present in several games this season as the Giants have rallied back from fourth quarter deficits only to escape with the win.

The Giants have also found exceptional play from their starting quarterback, Daniel Jones. While he still might not be the greatest pocket passer in the NFL, Jones has led several game-winning drives both by moving the ball downfield through the air, but also by escaping pressure and rushing the ball himself.

Jones sneaky athleticism has helped the Giants extend drives nearly every series, and could be a major asset for them as they still search for a dependable wide receiver one.

The biggest X-factor for the New York Giants comes from their top skill player on the roster, Saquon Barkley. Barkley has been battling several injuries over the past few seasons leaving many to ponder on his future in the NFL. Luckily for the G-Men, Barkley has bounced back in full force this season, second in the league in total rushing yards.

With his explosive running ability, Barkley has put his team on his back and helped lead them to several big wins over tough opponents. If Barkley is able to stay healthy he will be tough to contain for even the best teams in the NFL.

In an uber-competitive NFC East, look for the Giants to squeeze into the NFL playoffs this season and make a run through the NFC. At (+5500) there is terrific value when betting on the Giants Super Bowl odds, and if they can continue their play from the first half of the season into the backend of the year, we could see the Giants right back in the Super Bowl picture.
