Best U Sports Football Bets of the Week

This weekend we have four championship matchups on tap as we see which team will emerge victorious within their conference and punch their ticket to the Vanier Cup playoffs. With several fanstastic teams on display in this weeks action, there’s no shortage of great bets to be made on the top Canadian University football games.

Below you will find our top picks and predictions on each of these top matchups so you know where to lean and throw down your bets on this weekends U Sports Conference Championship games.

St. Francis Xavier X-Men (-17.5)

The first championship matchup taking place comes from the AUS, as the St. Francis Xavier X-Men host the Mount Allison Mounties in this years Loney Bowl. With both teams looking like legitimate threats to claim the 2022 Jewett Trophy, back the X-Men to get the job done and claim their second-straight conference title.

The reigning champion X-Men have looked spectacular this season, dominating everyone within their conference, they’ve looked unstoppable. With no more than 10 points scored against them in any matchup so far this season, it would take a monumental collapse for the X-Men to drop this championship game.

Back the X-Men to claim back-to-back Jewett Trophy victories as they inch closer towards claiming their conferences first Vanier Cup in two decades.

Queens Gaels VS Western Mustangs (Under 56.5 Points)

While we expect the the X-Men to finish off their undefeated season, the Western Mustangs are in-play to close out their own perfect season in the OUA. Looking to capture consecutive Yates Cup victories over the Queens Gaels, the Mustangs have lit up scoreboards across the province this season.

Entering into their biggest game of the year, while they may be known for their high-powered offences, look for the final score to be much lower in the Yates Cup Final between the Gaels and Mustangs. With the line currently set at 56.5 total points, this would be the highest scoring matchup since the Mustangs defeated the Guelph Gryphons 63-14 back in 2018.

While both of these squads have proven they can put points on the board, look for each team to exercise caution in this game, as one costly mistake could lead to the end of their season. Look for both teams to take a more methodical approach to this years Yates Cup and have a lower than expected scoring outing from both teams.

The only time these two teams faced this season the final score was well under the current line with only 46 combined points shared in the match. Back the Under on the the Gaels VS Mustangs in this seasons Yates Cup game.

Montreal Carabins (+11.5)

Surrendering the lead atop the RSEQ standings to the opposing Laval Rouge et Or, the Montreal Carabins are not going to end their season without putting up a fight. The winners of last two Dunsmore Cups, the Carabins have put together a strong regular season campaign, but wavered down the stretch.

Taking losses to both the Rouge et Or as well as the Sherbrooke Vert et Or this season, many began to place doubt on the Carabins ability to reach this years Dunsmore Cup. Once the Conference playoffs began however, the Carabins silenced their critics and put together a dominant performance against the Vert et Or.

Looking to keep this momentum going, back the Carabins to stay within 11.5 points of the Rouge et Or in this years Dunsmore Cup Final in what is sure to be a heated finish to a fantastic season.

UBC Thunderbirds (ML)

A championship weekend wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of drama. This weekend we are backing the underdog UBC Thunderbirds to overthrow the reigning Hardy Trophy Champions and secure the schools first Conference Championship since 2014.

While they may have started the season slow, the Thunderbirds have done a full 180 on their season and now find themselves one win away from claiming the Hardy Trophy. The Saskatchewan Huskies looked nearly unbeatable this season, that was until the Thunderbirds took them down 35-29 in the second-last week of the regular season.

In the midst of a hot-streak, the Thunderbirds have supreme confidence that they can defeat the Huskies once more at the biggest stage. Back the underdog Thunderbirds to complete their upset bid and claim this years Hardy Trophy. At +580 these odds are too good to pass up, and could land you your biggest win of the season right at the tail end.
